Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Strategy and Business Management the incumbent will play a key role in enabling and supporting the Leadership Team to meet strategic and business objectives. They will do this by supporting key business functions that span the breadth of the Organization to ensure consistency and alignment of priorities and support functional leaders in achieving desired business outcomes.


What Will You Do?

  • Work closely with the Director to manage all Business Management functions for the Platform Technologies &Engineering organization, including Financial management, Budgeting (Client and Team) and Contractor / Vendor Management (Resource Set-up, Invoicing, Monthly Accounting, Payments, PO tracking).
  • Work with the director to build and maintain the Workforce Plan encompassing FTE, Contractor, 3rd party, ASCI and Co-Ops
  • Manage the team newsletter, establish cadence and requirements
  • Manage the processes for important business feedback loops: Leader meetings, broader team meetings, and others as appropriate. In collaboration with the Director, this includes responsibility for the planning and execution of these meetings including (where applicable) logistics, agenda, presentations, pre-reads, ensuring the readiness of all agenda items and presenters, capturing and tracking of key conclusions and action items.
  • Assist the Director in facilitating the business area strategic and annual planning process, ensuring alignment of initiatives to the broader strategy. Develop plan artifacts and keep track of progress against key objectives
  • Manage the annual budget planning process and monthly expense variance reporting and analysis functions. Act as a steward for fiscally responsible expense management; identify, consult and influence on opportunities for enhanced fiscal management

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5-10 years experience with up-to-date expense analysis and business plan/tracking to objectives
  • Experience with delivery of high quality, timely business artifacts with clear recommendations and action plans to support business objectives
  • An in-depth understanding of the financial services marketplace
  • Excellent time and priority management skills
  • Demonstrated Leadership, coaching and team building skills
  • Proven ability to make sound business decisions, develop go-forward action plans in alignment to them and successfully execute them
  • Strong communication, organization skills, a positive attitude and proven ability to negotiate and influence others to obtain desired results
  • Proven ability to communicate strategies and create a line of sight for the business to help drive innovation 
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with various business and strategic partners

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
