Position Summary...

The Senior Manager, Network Optimization is responsible for the strategic design of the final mile transportation network for Canada. This role will be responsible for executing the network strategy and leading initiatives across several cross functional teams at Walmart (Transportation, Logistics, Replenishment, Technology). With a focus on several important and interrelated metrics related to Speed, Service, Cost and Customer Experience. The role will lead the building of rules and principles that will guide the framework on how we source orders to ship nodes and ship nodes to carriers. This role will help to create partnerships with in house delivery solutions and third party courier partners. This role will be heavily focused on cost reduction and identifying efficiencies in the supply chain to reduce transportation spend.

What you'll do...

1. Responsible for network strategy, ship node and carrier sourcing (RFI, RFP, & RFQ) processes for eCommerce small parcel, perishable, white glove, installation, package removal, and returns services to

support the eCommerce ship strategy.

2.. Responsible for cost mitigation efforts including reducing spend on base charges, cube charges, extended area and other accessorial charges. 

4. Use detailed knowledge to develop benchmarking and best practice initiatives that set direction for Supply Chain and Transportation optimization objectives for eCommerce.

5. Responsible for cross-border transportation solutions supporting direct ship vendors as well as market place sellers. Collaborating with all stakeholders while guiding executive leadership through industry

options, trends, and decisions.

6. Acts as a subject matter expert on the middle mile programs.  Ensures that overall solution is leveraging best practices seen in the industry today and other Walmart markets internationally; as well as develops benchmarking and best practice initiatives that set direction for Middle and Last Mile optimization objectives.

7. Coaches and develops team who support the identification of innovative ideas, improved cost to serve opportunities, budget development, and business case development.

8. Product Development - eCommerce Platform (Supply Chain and Logistics Module): Provide leadership in the development of system projects, in accordance with the Global eCommerce Platform

developments and in line with eCommerce Canada growth plans.

Qualifications:

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-3 years experience working on corporate strategy or management consulting.
  • Leadership experience in Supply Chain or eCommerce Operations

Nice to Haves:

  • Master’s Degree, MBA would definitely be an asset
  • Experience with project delivery, strategy development and managing/advising large scale, complex project/delivery teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills complemented by solid business and technical background, and keen interest in business operations, process improvement, and change impact.
  • Expert problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex opportunities/challenges.
