Job Description:

Director Finance, Digital Business & Technology Solutions (IT)

The Director Finance in Enterprise Services is responsible for end-to-end financial management of the Chief Technology Office (CTO) portfolio.  The Director serves as a central point for all finance related activates including strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, reporting, chargeback process and cost optimization for the portfolio. The Finance role must be able to advise the business on decisions to ensure that the business is financially successful. The role is also responsible for creating, managing and obtaining business case approval and business commitments for initiatives.

Reports to the AVP Finance - Digital Business & Technology Solutions

Leadership Responsibility:

  • Develops strategy and sets direction for the CTO finance function and influences broadly.
  • Acts as a role model. Mentors and develops less experienced peers.
  • Provides thought leadership for the CTO portfolio.
  • Drives and helps implement digital transformation changes.
  • Drives best practices, enforcing the highest standards.

                                                                                                                                                                          

Define, lead and Influence CTO finance strategy

  • Lead and influence CTO finance strategy based on current IT trends.
  • Create and manage business cases for digital and CTO applications.
  • Define strategy and process on digital and CTO operating budget financial management.
  • Drive and own all TCO/economic related activities.
  • Develop, maintain and cultivate relationships with other business partner finance teams.

Lead the development of CTO guidelines and standards

  • Define and develop standard TCO framework and dynamic analytic model.
  • Define guardrails to optimize cost performance.   
  • Define requirements for alerting when costs are higher than expected within a billing cycle.

Lead CTO Financial cost modeling

  • Identify required go forward funding model for CTO products.
  • Drive standardization and simplification on business case modeling.
  • Define costing model, including CTO infrastructure cost, people, and training costs.
  • Design cost and revenue models and forecasts for budget reviews.
  • Assist in the implementation of ES’ strategy within CTO and ES Finance.

Financial oversight and management of CTO operating budgets and chargeback to customers

  • Responsible for all financial month-end, quarter-end, year-end activities. 
  • Present business reviews to senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks on TCO topics.
  • Report to business application owners on CTO services consumption costs that will be charged back.
  • Forecast digital and CTO costs to business application owners to support budgeting process.

Lead CTO financial Tracking and monitoring

  • Develop and administer reporting and tracking system of all TCO/economic related activities.
  • Report on project costs.
  • Drive successful implementation on product cost tracking and status reporting on IT initiatives such as DevOps and Blockfunding.
  • Partner with digital and CTO Architects to optimize cost performance.
  • Identify and leverage cost optimization opportunities.

Coaching and Mentoring Employees

  • Coach, lead, mentor and develop team members.
  • Assign work and work with team members to balance the workload
  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback on the performance of the team.

Required qualifications:

  • Knowledge of IT financial modes, technology infrastructure and expense management.
  • Familiar with / basic knowledge of cost recovery / chargeback models.
  • Extensive experience working with senior business and IT stakeholders on Business case / value analysis / TCO solutions / Cost optimization solutions.
  • Experience of working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Experience of creating detailed cost models
  • Financial reporting experience on: financial data, cost savings, report on charging back to customers

Certifications:

  • Accounting designation (CPA)
  • MBA or equivalent relevant business experience
  • Progressive experience within the financial management functions (7-10 years)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
