The Manager, Operational Effectiveness is responsible for the day-to-day operational support to the Retail Mortgage and Auto Lending Operations (RMALO). The incumbent is expected to research viable solutions in other areas of Global Operations and the bank or external vendor partners where necessary. The incumbent is expected to present recommendations/ solutions to senior management and assist in the delivery and implementation of solutions as required. They ensure service provided to the RMALO and other channels are consistently of a high quality in keeping with Scotia Service Standards and Complaint Resolution Standards. The incumbent will also contribute to the provision of human, straightforward and knowledgeable service through their daily interactions to foster a relationship of mutual trust and confidence with our customers, partners, and other employees.

 

What Your Role Will Be:

 

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to enhance the customer experience and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Manages end-to-end processes and impacts achievement of service level agreements, operating/financial metrics and quality achievement of project and program objectives. Ensures that projects/initiatives adhere to frameworks and documentation is maintained appropriately. Assesses project risks and issues and provides solutions where applicable.
  • Impacts the quality and delivery of professional programs and services supported; provides professional guidance and serves as a key escalation point for business lines and service partners; takes a lead role in quality control. Maintains up to date knowledge of business changes and compliance requirements. Leverages tools and best practices to help core business deliver excellence in performance and customer service.
  • Support the monitoring of risks within units to ensure appropriate corrective action is taken where undue risks/issues/breaches are identified and ensures action plans are developed and actioned as required; analyze root causes of operational issues/breaches and initiating corrective action by recommending and implementing policy, procedural, and system solutions. Liaise with Risk and Business Control teams as required.
  • Coaches team to execute against cascaded operational objectives; leads others to deliver business and operating results; focuses teams on operational excellence and service standard.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.  Provides support to the business unit in the areas of risk and policy, to help the business unit achieve their goals in alignment with the Bank’s strategy.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors, communicating vison/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

Skills You Already Have:

 

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Management or related field and/or minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Solid knowledge of the Bank’s regulations, policies, procedure and business unit operations
  • Working knowledge of the of regulatory requirements within the financial industry (e.g. OSFI, FCAC, SOX, PIPEDA)
