Responsibilities

This role is part of a new program at Microsoft Canada to help people who may be newer to the technology field to learn and grow.   During the first 6 months, Microsoft will work to develop employees in this program for customer readiness through onboarding, on the job training, and job shadowing focused on Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI).  After 6 months employees will be placed into customer facing Cloud Solution Architect or similar roles.  Responsibilities include: 

 

Understanding Customer Technical Environment

  • Learns from  colleagues and learns how what customers need
  • Shares what customers have problems with and what feedback they have with internal teamsArchitecture Design and Deployment
  • Uses existing problem solving strategies to support project solutions.
  • Solicits input from others to contribute to proposals for viable solutions based on specific technical products.
  • Demonstrates basic technical concepts and proves those design solutions capability through design collaboration sessions with the customer/partner.
  • Applies methodology and governance, as directed, to minimize business and technical risks and adhere to quality assurance. Demonstrates an understanding of customer/partner conditions of success.

Practice Development

  • Supports research projects and contributes to assessing potential intellectual property (IP) needs or process changes.

Trusted Advisor

  • Begins building relationships with other technical specialists under the guidance and supervision of others.
  • Identifies when customers/Partner is going in the wrong direction and escalates appropriately.                          
  • Learns Microsoft solutions and demonstrates an understanding of Microsoft's value to customers/partners. 

Thought Leadership

  • Provides input to virtual team members when asked, using a basic knowledge of specific Microsoft architectures and other relevant products.
  • Actively looks for relevant communities to learn from.
  • Participates in external architect community events and shares learnings with the internal team.           

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have some technical, business and interpersonal skills, but more importantly, will demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow these skills to be able to support customers after 6 months.  Some of these skills would include:
