PURPOSE:

 

•    Contributes to the overall success of the Product Operations & Business Effectiveness in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
•    The Pre-Fund Quality Assurance Analyst (PFQA) is responsible for performing quality reviews of mortgage loan decisions processed through the Tangerine RESL Product Home Financing Lending Manager (HFLM) and Mortgage Origination Specialist (MOS), to ensure consistent, quality decisions are being made by the adjudication staff within appropriate risk policies, and identifying trends to improve service to all customers.
•    In addition, the incumbent ensures adherence to Bank regulations, security procedures and policies through a thorough pre-funding review of all mortgages fulfilled by the HFLM. The PFQA will escalate non-adherence to the RESL Product Management and to the HFLM’s appropriate Senior Manager, in addition to the Director of Product Operations & Business Effectiveness for compliance issues.
•    The incumbent is expected to work within a team environment; taking initiative and providing assistance as required, ensuring the team’s service expectations are met. He/She must have a strong understanding of the Bank's policies and processes as they relate to Retail Lending and the Affiliate Mortgage Channel, as well as the Bank's Residential Mortgage underwriting Policy.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

•    Ensure adherence to policy and procedural standards for mortgages approved for funding
•    Ensure consistent, quality solutions mortgage loan applications being processed
•    Ensure delivery of customer service is in accordance with Tangerine standards
•    Contribute to the effective management of the Bank’s mortgage credit portfolio

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

The PFQA has experience with third party mortgage origination and lending with a sound knowledge of the Bank’s products and policies combined with a good understanding of the Bank’s credit culture. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for professional interactions with business unit sales officers and to ensure a high level of credibility with serviced units. He/She is required to function independently however direction is received from the senior leadership on reviews that are disputed.

 

Functional competencies:
•   
 Expert understanding of retail lending policies specific to retail mortgages and their associated procedures
•    Thorough knowledge of the Bank’s Regulatory and Compliance requirements as they relate to credit granting, Privacy, Know Your Customer and Anti Money Laundering, including management control and audit disciplines, 
•    Working knowledge of MOS/HFLM processes/procedures with respect to mortgage adjudication and condition fulfillment
•    Expert knowledge of CMHC, Genworth, and Canada Guarantee mortgage insurance
•    Working knowledge of PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
•    Thorough knowledge of the Webtop system and other related Bank systems
•    Previous experience in adjudicating retail loans, mortgages and small business credit is required
•    Proven strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, are required in order to deal effectively with team members and other external Bank departments

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.  Limited travel domestically.
