Job Description:

Product Manager - Variable Annuity Product Management: This role can be based out of Waterloo or Toronto

Overview:

Reporting to the Director, Variable Annuity Product Management, the Product Development Manager will contribute to the development and management of the Sun Life GIFs product suite. Specific focus will be on maintaining strong relationships with Sun Life Global Investments (SLGI) fund management partners and contributing to the selection and monitoring of the underlying fund options.  

What will you do:

Product development/management

• Develop ideas for new product as well as enhancements to existing products.

• Present ideas to leaders and internal partners to gain support and approval to move ideas forward.

• Lead product related initiatives, including product launches, enhancements and regulatory changes as a subject matter expert, business analyst and project management as needed. 

• Maintain expert-level knowledge of the Canadian seg fund landscape, including competitive products, regulations, sales trends, and changes in the industry.

• Wealth Distribution support – inbox management, exception requests, product training.

• Marketing support – event project working groups, data requests, product decks.

• Operations support – training, system support and problem resolution.

• Fund accounting support – provide information and data as needed.

• Ad-hoc project support – participate in projects as the subject matter expert.

• Support legacy product management initiatives, particularly with analysis of funds available in legacy products.

Sun Life GIFs fund lineup management

• Continually monitor all aspects of the funds offered in Sun Life GIFs products, including competitive analysis, performance monitoring, allocation monitoring.

• Responsible for all aspects of fund changes, from recommending fund changes (adds, changes and terminations) through to implementation, being a leader in project groups and working with internal partners (fund accounting, operations, marketing, sales etc) to implement changes.

• Relationship management with Sun Life GIFs fund management partners.

• Organize and lead the Investment Options Oversight Committee.

• Responsible for all aspects of the production of Fund Facts documents annually from data gathering through web publication.

What you need to succeed:

• The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant experience in the investment industry.

• Strong analytical and investigative abilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

• Proficient with technology and programs like Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Knowledge of various wealth products, preferably Segregated Funds.

• Must be a self-starter who is achievement-oriented, motivated and has proven problem solving.

• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team.

• High level of integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
