Your Role and Responsibilities
The Product Owner(PO) will be an integral part of IBM's Security Intelligence QRadar software development team responsible for helping deliver software functionality and fixes to customers through a combination of planning, prioritizing and shepherding team development and testing efforts. The ideal candidate will have previous software product owner or project management experience, with a passion for quality and high performance teamwork. This work will have a direct impact on making QRadar a better, higher quality SIEM product, maintaining IBM Security's standing as the global leader in IT security products.

Main Responsibilities for include:
  • Engaging regularly with stakeholders to understand the needs of our customers to shape the roadmap for the team’s work and prioritizing incoming work asks against what’s already planned and in progress.
  • Lead the team in defining clear requirements and acceptance criteria for successful delivery on time with high quality
  • Help the team through software design and test planning exercises to deliver the right solution to meet our customer needs.
  • Report status on a regular basis and engage the team to provide estimates and levels of effort for upcoming work
  • Ensure the team delivers comprehensive, tested code that accounts for usability, quality, performance, security, and maintainability in alignment with the team’s priorities following secure coding practices
  • Care to critique: actively providing open and respectful feedback in our team meetings such as scrums and retrospectives with the aim to help strengthen and improve team process, dynamics and the work we deliver
  • As time permits supplement the team’s development or test efforts of our deliverables
Location for this role: Fredericton, Ottawa or Markham.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 4+ years of experience in a software development environment, either in product owner and/or scrum master role or developing and/or testing production level code
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-driven with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage workload to meet specific deadlines in accordance with team priorities
  • Demonstrated eagerness to identify, communicate and mitigate risks and work delays
  • Must work effectively as part of a team and be able to exercise independent judgment within defined guidelines and procedures
  • Experience with customers or support personnel to successfully bring problems and defects to resolution
  • Demonstrated communication skills with English fluency, both written and verbal


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Knowledge of the software development cycle & agile methodologies
  • Passion for continuous improvement
  • Experience establishing, tracking, and improving software development metrics
  • Experience with Linux operating systems
  • Experience with two or more of the following: Java/Java script, SQL, Bash, Python XML, NodeJS, ReactJS
  • Familiarity with development tools Git, development IDE such as IDEA, or Eclipse, Jenkins, gradle
  • Interest in the Security Industry
