About the faculty/service: Faculty of Medicine
Welcome to the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, the first and largest bilingual medical faculty in Canada. Position purpose:Using a wide variety of tools, techniques and skills, the Project Coordinator is responsible for developing, administering and evaluating projects for the Office of Social Accountability in the Strategic Planning and Implementation Office at the Faculty of Medicine. Responsible for executing logistical activities related to the delivery of programs while developing and maintaining communication platforms and strategies.  Reports to the Program Manager, Strategic Planning and Implementation.

In this role you will:

1.    Project Coordination: Performs a variety of operational functions related to the delivery of a program in the context of a service, academic, community or research environment. Coordinates multiple projects, including all operational activities around project delivery efficiently and within budget. Troubleshoots unanticipated complications within the scope of project execution and recommends creative solutions to ensure operational continuity. Evaluates and adjusts project activities based on feedback from participants and stakeholders. Maintains accurate records for key historical data, program metrics, and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

2.    Community Engagement: Plans, facilitates and participates in stakeholder and community projects that harness a wide range of engagement techniques, including in-person or virtual workshops, meetings, consultations and program implementation. Under the direction of the Program Manager, works to ensure strategies are in place to remove barriers to participation by community members in University activities. Develops a strong rapport and relationships with stakeholders and community groups to allow for open and constructive communication for the purpose of strengthening the social accountability mandate. Exercises a high level of diplomacy and discretion in all interactions.

3.    Communications: Proactively works to build a positive image, increase reputation and awareness of the activities of the program. Generates content and manages web and social media channels so the information is seamless across the platforms, ensures material is written in a way that is accessible to all audiences and coordinates improvements to maximize the effectiveness of these tools. Ensures materials are co-developed with stakeholders as appropriate and ensures all communication materials are presented using language appropriate to community and stakeholder needs. 
 

What you will bring:

•    Knowledge of administration, project management and marketing & communication principles normally acquired through postsecondary studies or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
•    Minimum five years of demonstrated experience in a similar role

Other Qualifications

•    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
•    Demonstrated ability in all stages of project processes, including initiating, planning, executing and closure.
•    Able to facilitate effective and diverse community consultations, programs, and initiatives
•    Keen attention to discretion, confidentiality, and tact
•    Sensitivity towards issues of racism, sexism, and other forms of stigma and discrimination. 
•    Strong communication skills, including experience with web-design, social media and creating content required to reach different stakeholder audiences
•    Experience in program evaluation and/or research with demonstrated skills in qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis and knowledge dissemination
•    Experience working in a postsecondary institution or other complex organization is an asset
•    Experience in supervising students is an asset
•    Bilingual, French and English, spoken and written

 

Bilingualism: French and English (spoken and written); to be considered for this position, candidates must be rated at the Low Advanced proficiency level or higher for both oral comprehension and reading comprehension in their second official language. The rating is determined by a proficiency test designed by the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute.
