We are hiring one (1) full-time permanent Senior Advisor, Communications position working out of Edmonton, AB to support our Drainage Services Business unit.

In this role, you will be responsible for understanding Drainage Services’ business needs and developing communication and stakeholder consultation strategies to assist in meeting business goals.

 

What you’d be responsible for

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications, your accountabilities will include:

 

  • Providing input to Drainage Services’ strategic communication and stakeholder consultation plans.
  • Ensuring strategies and consultation activities protect and contribute to a positive EPCOR reputation externally and internally.
  • Providing ongoing strategic advice and communications support to Drainage Services including developing annual and project-specific communications plans.
  • Writing effective and understandable technical project materials, newsletters, project notifications and key messaging, and managing their design, print and distribution.
  • Developing proactive issues management strategies and ensuring timely communications support in response to emerging issues, incidents or crises.
  • Supporting media relations by developing key messages and acting as an on-call, after-hours media spokesperson on rotation with other Senior Advisors.
  • Developing, organizing, and executing all phases of consultation plans and leading outreach teams and community advisory panels on public consultation projects.
  • Working one-on-one with stakeholders to understand and address concerns.
  • Developing and executing innovative communications and change management strategies to inform and engage employees through a variety of channels and mediums.
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, and requirements, while contributing to ongoing process improvement.

 

What’s required to be successful

 

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Consultation, Communications or a related field of study.
  • Minimum 4 – 6 years demonstrated experience in delivering effective, measurable communications and stakeholder consultation strategies utilizing a variety of media and consultation methods.
  • Accreditation with the International Association of Business Communicators or the Canadian Public Relations Society.
  • Understanding of the regulatory process and utility industry.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, especially communicating technical information to the public.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

 

 

As our best candidate, you are adept at listening, understanding and crafting masterful responses both written and verbal. Your strong presentation and interpersonal skills allow you to work with various different personalities at all levels of the organization and with the public.

 

You have strong understanding of all phases of a project and are able to execute and manage project requirements, timelines, and costs while effectively collaborating cross-functionally.

Wage: $46.89 – $55.88 per hour

  • Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and is based on a combination of factors as outlined in the CA that may be found online

  Hours of work: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
