Your Role and Responsibilities
This role is performed by technical professionals responsible for the physical and technical aspects of a database systems. Responsibilities for this job role include, but are not limited to, installation and maintenance of the database system, installation of upgrades and patches, performance and capacity monitoring & management, and security compliance. Potential interaction with clients (internal or external) in order to understand and meet requirements for the delivery of services related to database products.
Sr system DBS duties with MS SQL (Mongo is nice to have) that is proficient in planning and leading patching upgrades for Production clustered databases in an ON PREM environment. Lots of your typical blocking and tackling with indexing, planning for performance, working with app teams, and as mentioned, keeping DB’s patched so security is out of operations hair.
Develop and modify database objects such as stored procedures, triggers, views, and ad-hoc queries as part of project implementation.
Participate with a project team to develop and implement databases, and manage, monitor, troubleshoot, and tune database performance
Collaborate with Application Developers, Database Administrator’s (DBAs), Quality Assurance, System Analysts, and Product Owners.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Need to know RDS, Windows SQL Server with SSIS, need to be senior as they need to be redesigning the database environment as well as leading/doing database migrations e.g. from MongoDB to DynamoDB. Need to know MySQL technologies such as AuroraDB, PostgresDB.
Familiar/Experienced with designing and implementing databases in a microservices-first environment – Scentsy eventually wants to move towards a microservices-first environment. Scentsy is currently a traditional VM shop with light Windows containers.

Familiarity with inventory supply chain and fulfillment, e-commerce sales, or financials beneficial
Knowledge of performance tuning on databases, indexing, replication and clustering, and writing stored procedures
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Same as above.
Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
