Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a highly-motivated individual to become a Business Center Practice Leader (BCPL) for our Southern Ontario Water Business, located in either our Windsor or London office. Geographically, this position is responsible for Southern Ontario generally encompassing Windsor, Sarnia, and London. Reporting to the Regional Sector Leader (RSL), BCPLs are strong “seller/doers” responsible for leading pursuits and delivering of excellent work to our clients. This position sits within our Business Centre (BC) which encompasses South and Central Ontario.

Accountable for the top line, BCPLs have a leadership role in the growth of the Business Center and Stantec’s market position while providing innovative design solutions with exceptional quality and execution that exceed client expectations. The BCPL works collaboratively their regional peers, supports other Stantec business center leaders through cross-selling and resource sharing, and personally participates in securing and executing projects.

It is the expectation that this leadership role will have an approximate term of 5-years, with the opportunity to re-evaluate at the end of the term and for the purpose of succession and company growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads by example, encourages innovation, and provides opportunity to staff.
  • Consistently demonstrates a commitment to Stantec’s Health and Safety culture within the BC
  • Optimizes Stantec’s core business processes and fosters business development excellence.
  • Sustains and grows revenue within the BC through successful business development, achieving key performance metrics.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of the national business strategy for the Water business line, with accountability for region-specific strategies and priorities.
  • Partners with other BCPLs and leaders to drive collaboration on pursuits across geographies and business lines
  • Coordinates BC business development activities (account management, proposal preparation, business development meetings, client surveys, etc.) with a core group of engineering professionals engaged in business development. This includes managing the Go / No Go opportunity review process.
  • Enables proper execution of risk management requirements related to pursuits including review of contracts, fees, and proposals, and conformance with risk review requirements.
  • Supports the Business Centre Operational Leader (BCOL) in achieving key bottom line operational performance metrics.
  • Collaborates and participates in the development of the BC annual business plan and budget.
  • Actively participates in coaching, mentoring, and developing future leaders, and participates in staff performance reviews, as required. Participates in the BC compensation review processes in conjunction with the other BC leaders.
  • Supports the BCOL with developing, attracting, engaging and retaining top talent
  • Actively participates in projects to maintain personal utilization targets, including executing strategic projects in a lead role (i.e. Project Manager, Technical Lead) as required. The minimum project work utilization for this position is 50%.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong understanding of the Water consulting business and water market within Eastern Ontario specific to treatment, conveyance, and water resources.
  • Entrepreneurial orientation with understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting services provider.
  • Strong business development skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base.
  • Experience with responding to Requests for Proposals, Expression of Interests, Statement of Qualifications.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead, challenge, and inspire staff to work together cohesively as a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to champion both technical and customer service excellence with conviction and purpose.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple and varied deadlines.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses a high degree of integrity.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of Water related consulting experience.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or related equivalent.
  • A Canadian Professional Engineering designation and registration is required.
  • Valid Driver’s License
